‘Extensive’ injuries: Lethbridge parents charged with neglect, sexual assault of infant
The Lethbridge parents of a six-week-old girl have been charged in what police say was abuse and sexual assault that has left their six-week-old daughter fighting for her life.
After reports that an infant was being abused, Lethbridge police on Wednesday made a check on welfare at a home in the city’s north side where they found the parents along with a newborn girl who was in medical distress.
She was transported to hospital by EMS.
“Her injuries were found to be extensive and she is currently in critical condition,” Lethbridge police said in a press release Friday.
“(An) investigation determined the baby had been assaulted and sexually assaulted multiple times over the past six weeks.”
