Former Vancouver mayor Kennedy Stewart’s election campaign again accused of not paying bills
For the second time, former Vancouver mayor Kennedy Stewart’s election campaign has been accused of not paying bills related to last year’s failed re-election bid.
According to a notice of civil claim filed in the Supreme Court of B.C., the company responsible for some media planning and advertisement-buying services for Stewart’s Forward Together campaign has not been paid $59,000 for work completed.
The claim states that Point Blank Creative Inc. signed a contract with Forward Together on Sept. 8, 2022, five weeks before the Oct. 15 election.
It goes on to say that $50,000 was received for the first invoice of $84,000 and nothing was received for a $25,000 invoice issued on Oct. 12, 2022 — a shortfall of $59,000. Records show $65,000 was spent by Point Blank on advertising on behalf of the campaign, for which it took a 10 per cent commission. The company charged Forward Together $15,000 to create a media plan, as well as $4,000 in GST.
