Glimmer of hope appears for Metro Vancouver’s last remaining drive-in theatre
Metro Vancouver’s last drive-in theatre is facing a challenge that’s threatening many other businesses in the region: land value.
When its owners were told they can’t renew their lease because of soaring property taxes, Langley Township offered them a lifeline.
Mayor and council voted unanimously last week for township staff to explore ways it might be able to help Aldergrove’s Twilight Drive-In.
The news reached Jay Daulat just as the 77-year-old coming to terms with having to close his family’s business after their landlord refused to renew their lease for 2025. He is currently in hospital recovering from surgery.
“We’re very, very excited. We just hope the township will be able to help us find a way to stay.”
