Hotel Intel: Family-friendly Sutton lodge gets a revamp
Husband and wife Simon Sanscartier and Maxime Désourdy are expanding their Eastern Townships operations in more ways than one.
On Feb. 9, they welcomed their third daughter, Ollie — baby sister to 18-month-old Alexis and three-year-old Raph.
The other big development is that they have become hoteliers, taking over the picturesque mountain domain of Le Montagnard, Auberge/Hôtel et Chalets, about two kilometres from Mont Sutton.
It has a variety of well-maintained lodging — simple, but fully renovated over the past year. The attractions are its considerable leisure facilities and majestic Eastern Townships location, high on a hill overlooking a northern stretch of the Appalachian Mountains. It’s all about tranquility and gorgeous boreal views.
The scene: Le Montagnard covers a large swath of land, and there is a lot to do. In winter, guests can use the hot tub, a hiking trail that borders the Sutton River, an outdoor fireplace, and a yard for toddlers’ tobogganing or simply romping in the snow.
