‘I don’t deserve this’: B.C. victims of online harassment discover they have few options

Casey-Jo Loos likes getting messages. The heartfelt, meaningful ones as well as the joyful banter. A recent message from a listener told the DJ and mindfulness coach she sounded like she was having  “the most fun in the studio.”

“If you’re not having fun as a radio host, what’s the point?” she replied.

Talking to, and engaging with listeners, is what Loos loves to do.

But behind the scenes, the CFOX media personality has been bombarded with a different kind of message: abusive, harassing, hate-filled blasts from an anonymous troll. The messages, which began four years ago when she was let go from the PEAK, recently became darker and are filled with sexually charged and degrading content.

The perpetrator uses email, direct messages, and hides their identity behind new accounts when Loos blocks them.
