Lakedale Resort a tranquil slice of island life
My new definition of relaxation: waking up in a lakeside log cabin, savouring a strong coffee on the deck and contemplating if it should be a canoe or kayak for the morning paddle. Decisions, decisions.
Such was the dilemma I faced during a recent getaway to a gem of a getaway spot on San Juan Island off the coast of Washington State. Lakedale Resort is an 82-acre wooded property with a wide range of accommodations and three freshwater lakes offering non-motorized boating, swimming and fishing. There are also all kinds of games and activities, the kinds of which you associate with traditional summer camp. Horseshoes, volleyball, bean bag toss, oversized chess and checkers, tetherball and a big library of board games. There are hiking trails throughout the property, and a wide selection of complimentary bikes to explore the property on. And the Activity Tent provides kids with the opportunity to tie-dye shirts and build bird houses. In other words, no chance you’ll be faced with the ‘I’m bored, there’s nothing to do” lament.
