Mount Seymour wildfire on North Shore can be seen across Metro Vancouver
Fire crews from North Vancouver and the B.C. Wildfire Service were responding Wednesday evening to a wildfire on Mount Seymour that sparked earlier in the afternoon.
Seven firefighters along with five helicopters and a skimmer air tanker group were battling the new blaze, which is “highly visible in the Metro Vancouver area,” said Nick Donnelly of the Coastal Fire Centre.
Donnelly confirmed that no structures were being threatened. He said it is a rank 3 fire, which indicates a “moderately vigorous surface fire,” according to the wildfire service.
Brant Arnold-Smith, an emergency program manager with Metro Vancouver, warned the public to use vigilance in the region due to the extremely dry conditions, including not discarding cigarettes carelessly or starting campfires.
