Oscar nominee criticized for ‘rude’ dress which blocked guests’ view

Oscar-nominated singer and songwriter Tems made a showstopping arrival at Sunday’s Academy Awards.

Her billowing white gown and headpiece made sure she stole the show – at least from the people seated behind her.

As Tems, nominated for Best Original Song for the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” track “Lift Me Up”, took her place in the audience, her costume inadvertently blocked those around her from catching a glimpse of the stage.

Photos of the Nigerian singer quickly went viral online.

“Imagine waiting your whole life to be at the Oscars and you end up sitting behind a stratus cloud,” writer Jarrett Bellini wrote on Twitter, comparing the headdress to a mass of condensed water vapour.
