Party on the slopes: choose your spring festival
The ski season isn’t over yet and some would argue it is the best time to visit our mountain resorts. And long term forecasts call for below-normal temperatures in B.C. – including heavy snow in the alpine regions – into April.
“There is no better place to enjoy spring skiing,” says Matt Mosteller, senior vice president for the Resorts of the Canadian Rockies. “Every minute you spend in the mountains here in B.C. is time well spent.”
Whether to embrace the warmer weather or to send off the season in style, many of the resorts are hosting festivals in the coming weeks:
The Whistler World Ski & Snowboard Festival takes place April 10-16. The festival includes ski and snowboard competitions, including the Saudan Couloir Race Extreme, the steepest ski and snowboard race in the world; and Slush Cup, a costumed race through snow and a slushy ice pond. Combined with music, art, photography, filmmaking, and exciting nightlife, plus some of the best skiing and après sessions of the season, the festival is a can’t miss.
