RCMP warn Metro Vancouver residents not to interact with two men and their gang associates
Mounties and B.C.’s specialized gang police unit are warning residents to stay away from two men and any of their gang associates over safety fears.
Two individuals in Surrey — Karnvir Garcha, 24, and Harkirat Jhutty, 22 — pose an “increased threat to public safety” because of their ties to gang activity and violence, according to Surrey RCMP and the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of B.C., which issued the warning along with photos of the two men on Friday.
RCMP say both Garcha and Jhutty’s lives could be at risk, as well as the people they know.
While publishing the names of people without charges is highly unusual for legal reasons, RCMP say the two men are aware of the news release and that they are at risk. RCMP said they take this situation very seriously and a very high threshold for safety concerns must be met to release the names and photos of individuals connected to gang violence.
