Sobbing Calgary widow describes terror of four men storming her home and killing her husband

Often sobbing uncontrollably, a Calgary-area woman on Monday described the horrifying raid of her Chestermere home which culminated in her husband’s death.

Lavern Gold testified she and husband Dennis Lewis were watching TV in the living room of their house the morning of Nov. 26, 2018, when they heard a knock on their door.

But instead of being the delivery of a Christmas gift for her grandson she was waiting to be dropped off, it was the beginning of the last few minutes of Lewis’ life.

Gold said two men stormed into the home and wrestled her husband to the floor.

One then ordered Lewis to unlock the back door, but when he moved to do so was stabbed in the upper chest, Gold said.
