Squamish Nation notified of sewage leak at Capilano River in West Vancouver

The Squamish Nation has been notified of a sewage leak at the Capilano River in West Vancouver.

The nation posted on Twitter that it is aware of the leak beginning near Fullerton Avenue.

The public is advised to stay clear of the water in the area and avoid using the river for fishing, swimming, bathing or entering the water for any reason, the notice said.

In an email Saturday, Environment Ministry spokesperson David Karn said the ministry was notified of the sewage leak on Friday, as were relevant agencies including the Squamish First Nation.

Environmental response officers were on site Friday along with representatives from District of North Vancouver and Coastal Health Authority.
