The pomp and pageantry: A Canadian’s guide to King Charles III’s coronation on May 6

On Saturday, May 6, King Charles — the longest-serving Prince of Wales — will be formally crowned King of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth realms.

There will be pomp and pageantry dating back more than 1,000 years, but the crowning of this monarch will feature new twists on tradition.

Millions of people around the world are expected to watch the historic event, including the grand procession through the streets of London, the ancient rites at Westminster Abbey, and a flypast outside Buckingham Palace.
