Treated like royalty at Majestic Elegance

If you are looking to get away and park yourself on a sunny, sandy beach for a week, there’s lots of places to choose from; but in winter we aren’t always guaranteed sunny, and not all beaches are created equally.

I told my wife “get me the best beach with a direct flight.” I was after one of life’s greatest luxuries;  the ability to choose to do nothing while a server schlepped back and forth in the sand to bring me what ever drink I fancied. Her criteria was more complicated: “I want good food, good coffee, and a suite where the kids have their own beds.”
Then she added “And a pool boy.”

After much research she chose: Cancun for the white-sand Caribbean coast, and the Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres because she wanted, “to live like a queen.” Majestic is a five-star, all-inclusive beach-front resort. And Sunwing airlines flies there direct from YVR.

Located 25-minutes drive north of Cancun, (Sunwing Experiences arranged to have a driver take us from the airport  to the resort), Majestic Elegance is large enough that we could always find a quiet spot on the beach or in the lounge, but small enough we didn’t need a bicycle or golf-cart to enjoy the amenities. And there are lots of amenities: 12 pools, a spa, gym, kids club, swim-up bars, a sports bar (showing NFL,NBA, NHL games and European soccer games), wi-fi that covers the beach, a games room, and enough bars you never have to go without a drink in hand.

And yes there are servers servicing the beach area so I never had to get up from the lounge chair to get my favourite drink or try something new. For my own good, both waistline and decency, the server didn’t take food orders to the beach. (I’ve been to that resort in the past and seen half-eaten chicken wings in the sand. Majestic is much more high-end.)
