Vancouver restaurant Sai Woo drops deposit requirement for groups after social media complaint

A Vancouver restaurant is making changes to its reservation deposit policies after one customer sounded the alarm on social media about the owners withholding the money.

Sai Woo, an Asian fusion restaurant owned by the Koosoo Group, is no longer requiring guests who book its space for group dining to make an $800 deposit in case of a no-show.

“We have revised our policy with no deposit,” Seung Min han, chef of the Chinatown restaurant, said in an email.

Min han said the restaurant is undergoing a comprehensive rebuilding process, which involves staff being trained in customer service.

“We will continue to listen to our customers and make improvements whenever necessary, as their satisfaction is our top priority.”
