Vegas plays with your sense of taste
Las Vegas is a city that is continually reinventing itself, and yet what it offers is always exciting and familiar. It’s this fusion that entices me to keep going back.
“Vegas is a super dynamic town – so much has changed over the years, the sports-centric nature of it at this point versus when I moved to this town,” says Michael Medina, Aria’s director of beverages. “The nightlife scene, the mega clubs, the speakeasies, there is just so much going on – that’s what’s really cool about it.”
I was there to soak in the atmosphere in the lead up to the National Football League conference championships. I’d wager a few bets and join the crowd at BetMGM the sports bar at Mandalay Bay in two days. But before that there were the simple pleasures of Vegas to discover.
And that’s how I came to be at the lounge at the Aria Resort with Medina, as he handed me a tumbler with two fingers of Heaven’s Door, a handcrafted American whisky. I sipped and enjoyed the intricacies and warmth of the 777 Blend.
