Welding truck explodes in Langley mall parking lot
A welding truck exploded in a Langley mall parking lot Wednesday morning.
Cpl. Craig van Herk, a spokesman for the Langley RCMP, said there are no reports of injuries following the explosion, which happened shortly before 10 a.m. at the Willoughby Town Centre mall.
He said at this point, investigators don’t believe the explosion is suspicious.
“The vehicle involved is a welding truck associated to the construction site there,” said van Herk in an email.
Social-media users described a chaotic scene. One person wrote on Twitter that there was a “huge explosion” that shook their building, while another described shrapnel strewn all over the ground.
