WestJet cancellations: Flying out of B.C. today? Here’s what you need to know
WestJet began cancelling flights Thursday before a pilot strike expected Friday, a move that could affect thousands of passengers travelling out of B.C. airports this long weekend.
The Vancouver International Airport is encouraging all passengers travelling on WestJet or Swoop planes to check their flight status before they go to YVR at westjet.com. Abbotsford Airport also tweeted out a similar alert.
In a news release, WestJet said in preparation for labour action by WestJet and Swoop pilots, the airline has “started taking down its network.”
In total, 98 flights have been cancelled on Thursday, says WestJet.
