Young man in critical condition after fall from hotel window during Vancouver police arrest

A 25-year-old Vancouver man is fighting for life in hospital after he fell from a window at the Patricia Hotel in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside neighbourhood on Thursday during an attempted arrest.

His mother, Victoria Bogosoff, said her son, Maximus Hayes, may not survive his injuries. And if he does, she says he will likely be blind and paralyzed.

“The right side of the skull is broken into eight pieces. His right side of the face is shattered into tiny little pieces. His femur is broken, his hips are broken. His pelvic bone is fractured. His leg and ankle are broken,” said Bogosoff.

The fall caused blood clots which led to Hayes having a stroke, she added.

“It killed his right side of the brain … the inflammation is getting worse. They’re afraid that it’s going to be fatal. The doctor is saying right now that he will very likely pass away in the next 24 to 48 hours.”
